The fall of Communism in 1989

Download video

The Cold War lasted from 1948 until 1989, when, in a period of six months, the Warsaw Pact collapsed. How was it that after four decades, the Communist regimes were negotiated out of power (Hungary and Poland), chased out by massive demonstrations (Czechoslovakia and East Germany), or overthrown by an internal party coup (Bulgaria and Romania). This short film provides an overview of what happened, where and when it happened, and who did it.
